I've bought skills and plugins. What's the difference?

You're not the only one wondering! The two words get used a lot, and they're easy to mix up.

A skill is one wizard that does one job, like writing a flash sale email or helping you pick a workshop topic.

A plugin is a package that holds several skills together, so you can install them in one go. Some of our products might come as one plugin with a handful of skills inside.

Here's an easy way to picture it: a skill is a recipe, and a plugin is the cookbook. You put the cookbook on the shelf once, and every recipe inside is ready whenever you need it.

Why it matters when you install

In Claude, plugins usually go in through Customize → Plugins. The Upload a skill page is built for one skill at a time, so a plugin might not fit there.

In ChatGPT, your purchase might arrive as a few separate skills, and you add each one on its own.

How do I know which one I have?
